51st International Eucharistic Congress Symbol Launched

Archbishop of Cebu Rev. Jose Palma blesses IEC SymbolThe Archdiocese of Cebu officially launched the IEC 2016 Symbol last October 25, 2014 at the Mariners Court, ALU Compound, Pier 1, Cebu City.

Archbishop of Cebu Rev. Jose Palma presided the Eucharistic celebration during the launching with the participation of the Archdiocesan and diocesan coordinators from different regions and representatives from the different parishes of Cebu.

The IEC Symbol which is a replica of the shrine that houses the cross of Magellan signifies the beginning of Christianization in the Philippines; it is considered a mark of purification of one’s evangelization and it symbolizes the hope that we have in Jesus Christ.

According to Moenil Lapa, the IEC 2016 Committee on Symbol will bring the Icon on a pilgrimage to twenty (20) churches in Cebu then to the different parishes across the country starting October 29, 2014 to November 2015.
