Biography of Jay-Arr Librando

Jay-arr Felisilda Librando (born September 11, 1981), known to friends and colleagues as Jeo Librando, used to teach at St. Francis of Assisi School located in Peace Valley, Lahug, Cebu City. Aside from handling Christian Living, English, Computer Science, Speech, HELE, Physical Education, Mathematics, Music, and Arts, he was involved in other school activities. He was IT-In-Charge, moderator of “The Canticle” (school magazine and year-book), instructional media officer, and Faculty vice-president. Furthermore, he was a voice coach/vocal trainer, Campus Ministry director, and head of the Music Ministry. He is a talented musician, not only as a performer but also as a composer and lyricist. For his selfless efforts and contributions, he has been the recipient of numerous awards.

He is a 1994 grade school graduate of the University of San Carlos – South and a 1998 high school graduate of the Blessed John XXIII Seminary. In 2002, he graduated from the San Carlos Seminary College and was also at the Seminario Mayor de San Carlos from 2005 to 2008.

His involvement in the music field includes a stint as assistant musical director to Msgr. Rudy Villanueva (2000-2002) which led to his directing musicals at St. Francis of Assisi School. In 2008, he directed his own composition, “Kindred Hearts the Musical”.

Since 2002, he has been a regular entrant to the Cebu Popular Music Festival as composer and interpreter. He has also submitted entries to the “Hunino, Halad Kang Sr. Sto. Nino” songwriting competition, the Marian Songwriting Festival, and other songwriting competitions in Cebu, reaping awards as winner or finalist. But he also finds the time to share his music talents with others. He is resident trainer of the ‘Voices of Praise of Carmel Ensemble’ and choir trainer of several school choirs in Cebu City.
