The Official Logo of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress

Last October 2013 the IEC Secretariat, as part of the preparations for the upcoming 51st International Eucharistic Congress to be held here in Cebu, hosted a Nation-wide Logo Making and Theme Song Composition Contest.

For the Logo Making Contest, the IEC Secretariat invited artists from all over the country to create a logo which will encapsulate the spirit of the 51st IEC. The 98 entries from all over the Philippines was trimmed down to 26 finalists through a pre-selection process. Among the 26 finalists, one was chosen to be the official logo of the 51st IEC.

The judges for the Logo Making Contest were:

  • Dr. Cynthia Loza, PhD (Dean UST College of Fine Arts and Design)
  • Msgr. Agustin Ancajas (Committee on Special Events, 51st IEC)
  • Director Louie Ignacio (Award-winning television, advertising & concert Director)
  • Ms. Elvira Yap Go (President, AnakTV Foundation; Chairman Promotion and Publicity, 51st IEC)
  • Most Rev. Romulo Valles, DD (CBCP V-Pres., Chair CBCP Permanent Committee on Eucharistic Congresses)

The artist of the winning logo is a 19 year-old fine arts student, Jayson Jaluag from Mandaue City, Cebu.

The Official Theme Song of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress

For the Theme Song Composition Contest, the IEC Secretariat commissioned the best Filipino composers, especially those who have made it their mission to serve the Church through music.Out of the 20 song entries, 12 were chosen for final consideration by the board of judges. Judging the final song entries were:

  • Most Rev. Pablo Virgilio David, DD (Auxiliary Bishop of San Fernando, Pampanga)
  • Ms. Elvira Yap Go (President, Anak TV Foundation, Chairman Promotion and Publicity, 51st IEC)
  • Director Louie Ignacio (Award-winning television, advertising & concert Director)
  • Rev. Sr. Veneranda Del Rosario, SPC (Campus Minister on Formation, St. Paul University, Quezon City)
  • Rev. Fr. Giuseppe Arsciwals, OP (Prior, Sto. Domingo Convent, Quezon City)

The winning composer was theology seminarian, Jay-arr Felisilda Librando, an amateur composer from Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. The title of his song is “Christ in Us, Our Hope of Glory.” The interpreters of the official version presented in Rome are Julie Anne San Jose & Jomer Limatog, Jr.
